All visitors to Jamaica must be in possession of a valid national passport or some form of travel document to which a photograph must be attached establishing nationality and identity. The passport or other document should be valid for the intended period of stay in Jamaica. Visitors should also provide evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay and be in possession of a return ticket or a ticket to another destination to which they are admissible. The final decision on the admission of a visitor to Jamaica and the duration of permissible stay rests with the Immigration Officer at the Jamaican port of entry. This applies whether or not a visa is a prerequisite for admission.
Citizens of Commonwealth countries (except Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka), as well as a number of other countries, do not require visas for travel to Jamaica for tourist purposes. Please contact the High Commission to confirm whether or not you will require a visa if you are a Non-Commonwealth citizen.
Cruise passengers of any nationality, who only intend to remain in Jamaica during the stay of the vessel by which they arrive, do not require a visa or passport to visit Jamaica.
Applications for visitors visas should include:
- Completed visa application form;
- Valid Passport (with at least 6 month’s validity remaining);
- One (1) Passport-sized photograph (not more than six months old);

The High Commission would love to keep in touch with Jamaican nationals resident within its jurisdiction. Not only does this allow you to hear from us with regard to developments, events and activities, it also allows us to serve you better, especially in the event that consular services are required. The Registration Form will provide your details for the High Commission’s confidential database. We would also appreciate your help in making the connection to other Jamaicans in the jurisdiction (Southern and Eastern Africa).
The Jamaican Diaspora consists of Jamaican citizens and their descendants residing outside of Jamaica. It has always been the case that no matter where Jamaicans reside, they have never lost their love for the homeland and their devotion to Jamrock usually remains strong. The Diaspora movement has been encouraged and over the past few years has found its form in an organised fashion.
Jamaica stands ready to welcome home citizens from abroad whether for visiting or resettling. If you plan to return home permanently, the Government has instituted a systematic approach to facilitate the transition back to home life in Jamaica. The Returning Residents Information Booklet is a useful guide in this process.
