New and Revised Fees for Citizenship Services
|
|
The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) has announced the introduction of a new fee structure for applications for Citizenship Services from overseas locations. The PICA, which was made an executive agency of the Government of Jamaica provides services in relation to passports for Jamaican nationals, immigration for foreign nationals (including residency, visas and admission to the country) and citizenship services for persons wishing to take up Jamaican citizenship.

High Commissioner Rodriques Departs for Kuwait
|
|
The High Commission wishes to advise that H.E. Audley Rodriques has departed Pretoria to assume his new assignment as Jamaican Ambassador to Kuwait. Ambassador Rodriques, who served as Jamaica's first resident High Commissioner to South Africa, will head this new Embassy being opened by Jamaica, the first in the Gulf Region.

Today, we celebrate the anniversary of the birth of our nation. It was a memorable night 48 years ago when we respectfully lowered the Union Jack and proudly hoisted the Black, Green and Gold as the symbol of our nationhood. With that flag was also raised our hopes and expectations as a people.

Every year at this time I can imagine and feel the excitement of our ancestors as they prepared for the August Morning, referred by our ancestors as "Augus Mawnin", that promised them freedom.

The Jamaican High Commission in collaboration with African World Football and the Atlanta Youth Soccer Association hosted a Football Development Clinic on Thursday, 1st July 2010, at the Sinetjhudu Primary School in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga.

Prime Minister's Statement to Parliament on the Declaration of a State of Public
|
|
The Cabinet took the decision on Sunday to advise the Governor-General to issue a proclamation declaring a state of public emergency for the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew effective 6:00 p.m. that day. This decision was taken on the advice of the security forces that action had been taken and further action was likely to be taken to endanger public safety.

Students from South Africa Arrive for Athletic Tour of Jamaica
|
|
Twenty eight students and three officials from South Africa's Willowridge High School arrived in the island, yesterday (March 22), for a 10-day visit, during which they will attend this week's annual Boys' and Girls' Championships, at the National Stadium.

Reggae Seminar in South Africa

February has been declared as Reggae Month by the Government of Jamaica and since 2008 the month has been used to highlight the role of reggae music and the impact of its philosophy on Jamaican culture, industry and society as well as the global impact of reggae.
