Career Opportunity - Forensic Pathologist

Notices Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant post of Forensic Pathologist (MDG/MO4) in the Legal Medicine Unit, Ministry of National Security, with salary range J$2,388,350 – J$2,838,998 and any other allowances.

Under the direction of the Director, Legal Medicine, the incumbent will be required to carry out the following duties:

• Autopsies

• On the spot post mortem examinations on decomposed bodies

• Exhumations

• Attend court to give evidence

• Visit crime scenes and collect samples for trace evidence

• Supervise the work of district medical officers

• Assist the Director in the investigation of medico-legal problems to ensure that adequate solutions are obtained

• Communicate with the police and the Director of Public Prosecutions and offer consultations

• Examine skeletal remains and give opinion

• Conduct lecture demonstrations at the morgue to police trainers, nursing students, law students and medical students. Deliver lectures to police on medico-legal investigation of death

Required Qualifications and Experience

• M.D. with specialized training in Forensic Pathology

• At least five (5) years related work experience

• Excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must be fluent (oral and written) in the English Language.
